"Learn to Swim, Operation Splash" Initiative

A program we proudly support is the "Learn to Swim, Operation Splash"  initiative, specifically designed for children attending Title I schools.

Since 2006, the Friends of Chula Vista Parks and Recreation, in collaboration with Kaiser Permanente, has transformed the lives of nearly 20,000 children by offering them the crucial life skill of swimming.

The Kaiser Permanente Operation Splash Grant provides free swim lessons to low-income fourth-grade students from the Chula Vista Elementary School District. Students attend ten days of swimming lessons at City of Chula Vista Parks and Recreation pools.

Through the Operation Splash Grant, we have been able to remove financial barriers and open the door to a world of water safety and confidence for these young individuals. The partnership's dedication to empowering kids and encouraging exercise through swimming not only fosters a sense of accomplishment but also ensures their safety around water. This initiative goes beyond teaching strokes; it instills a sense of resilience and determination that will undoubtedly benefit these children throughout their lives
